System Champions and Advocates

System Champions and Advocates

System Champions and Advocates are trusted people who help adoption spread. Champions are nominated across teams, while Advocates may live within the system team itself. Both play a role in supporting peers, answering questions, and demonstrating system value. By nominating and equipping them, you reduce the burden on the core system team and create distributed support across the organisation.

How to

  1. Nominate champions Identify one or two reps per product area, discipline, or business domain. Look for those who can commit to the role, influence their peers, and bring back feedback.

  2. Support Advocates inside your team If the system team itself act as advocates, equip them with extra time and channels to stay engaged, answer questions, and guide adoption in specific projects.

  3. Equip and connect Give both champions and advocates resources, early access, and regular updates. Keep them informed and engaged so they can support others effectively.

  4. Recognise and sustain Acknowledge contributions publicly and provide space to showcase adoption wins. Recognition keeps people motivated and ensures the role stays active over time.
